A whole lot has happened since my last post, so let me go through the positives real fast.

The A's traded Matt Holliday, and got exactly who they wanted. I'm happy to have Brett Wallace in the Organization now, and Mortenson and Peterson look to be pretty decent.

They also traded Orlando Cabrera for the exact value he was worth to the A's: A second round draft pick. Tyler Ladendorf is now an A.

Brett Anderson is a stud. His streak of amazing appearances started in Boston. A complete game with no runs scored. This guy is the real deal.

Gio Gonzalez is starting to shine. I always loved this guy, because he had oodles of potential. His curve is just nasty, and with his fastball being used to confuse hitters... He's going to be excellent.

Rajai Davis has decided that he is no longer DFA worthy. Good for him, if he keeps it up he might be worth keeping around.

The A's traded Jack Hannahan. Wow.

The minor leagues are stacked with great hitters. I'm just so happy that everything started turning around. Let's go through a few of the good guys.

Chris Carter: 1B, AA Midland. .325/.422/.553 in 105 games. Wow. This kid is making AA look like rookie ball. He hit HR 19 last night, to go with double #34. Midland isn't a hitters park. It actually drains HR totals and boosts double totals. Carter is a stud.

Grant Desme: OF, A+ Stockton. The toolsy outfielder was taken in the second round in '07, only to miss out on the next two seasons due to injury. Desme has rebounded making sure his dreams of playing pro ball don't die. How's he doing? Hitting .275 with a .347/.540/.897 line between two levels. He needs to cut down on the K's, and if he can do that, he's going to be an all-star. Oh, 23 HR's between two levels with 27 doubles and 34 SB's.

Jemile Weeks: 2B, AA Midland. After losing most of the '08 season to a hamstring injury, Weeks came roaring back to baseball in June. In his first 23 games back he had a hit. Impressive stuff. Just promoted to Midland after showing good hitting skills in Stockton.

I must say, the A's are a lot more watchable now that Holliday is gone. Really weird, because I would have thought the opposite. At 45-60, they're still a craptastic team. At least they're nowhere near as bad as the Nationals. The only things I'm really disappointed with on this team are the fact that Cahill and Mazzaro aren't progressing anywhere near the rate Anderson did. That's fine, I just hope they can fix that. The other thing I'm disappointed with? Bob Geren is still the manager.

Blah.

Does Anyone Care Anymore?

Well, spank my ass and call me Sally. The A's lost....again.

It's embarrassing when someone asks me snidely about how the A's are doing. My usual response is something along the lines of "I hate them, because they suck. So. Much."
It wasn't always this way. I remember when I could stand watching A's games. I remember when the lineup was mostly good. I remember when we had a decent manager. Alas, those days are long gone.

Today was an excellent example of what the '09 season has been, and will continue to be. A suckfest. A 14-1 asskicking by the first place Rangers just added another exclamation to the A's mantra for the year.

"WE REALLY, REALLY SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Seriously. When you have the bases loaded, someone hits a double, and you only score one run, you know you are just terrible. There was no reason to watch this game, because if you can only muster 5 hits against Texas, you're fucked. This A's team is lifeless, doesn't care, doesn't want to be out there, and doesn't want to win.

I'd like to think there's something the Front Office can do, but as far as personnel goes, there isn't much. Firing Geren would be an excellent first step, but he was signed to an extension after 2(!) losing seasons. I swear he has compromising pictures of Beane, and they obviously have nothing to do with sex with his wife in the missionary position for the sake of procreation.

So what can they do? They can trade Holliday, get something useful for him. They can draft someone good in the draft this year. (Though Jemile is starting strong in his debut, *knocks on wood*)

The A's aren't very good, and will continue to not be good. We have a black hole at third base, something far more sinister at shortstop, and we're livin on a prayer with Corey Brown in Center. This organization needs to address those needs immediately, or else it's going to be more than just a really long season.

It's going to be a torrential suckfest for years to come.

Thought I should put this up

Nomar Garciaparra has been sidelined once again by a strained right calf.
Nomar was originally penciled as the DH Tuesday after missing the past two games, but manager Bob Geren apparently thought better of it.
Source: San Francisco Chronicle

Fuck you Bob. At least in the past few months. I am pleased to announced the inception of this blog, and I hope A's fans around the world come here to vent frustrations about the daily failings of Bob Geren. There's only so much fail a team can handle, and Bob doesn't have to try very hard.

Dear Bob,

We understand that you're trying to keep everything running smoothly. We understand that as a leader in the dugout, you have to keep a straight face and try to paint a pretty picture. However, don't try to bullshit people who understand what's going on. Don't tell us Buckner, or Cecil, or whoever the fuck our opponents are throwing at us, pitched a good game. These pitchers SUCK, and your offense sucks SO MUCH that they make guys like Cecil look like perennial fuck All-Stars.

I don't want to hear any excuses from you for our team. I don't want you to apologize for Russ Springer sucking. I don't want you to apologize for whichever hitter fucked up. I want you to light a fire under their asses, because that's what this team needs. I have never looked into a A's dugout and seen one so deflated and lifeless. I don't know how you did it Bob, but you managed to suck the life out of this team.

Your defensive replacements (Or your lineup making in general) is spectacularly bad. Friday marked the 4th time we lost a game thanks to Rajai Davis. Rajai is awful, as of this posting he's 0-21, can't get on base, and can't bunt to save his mother from a exploding house. Bob, the whole point of having a guy who's fast is to use him to steal bases and get into scoring position. What's the point if he can't get on base?

Your bullpen moves are wildly random, and unpredictable. I don't know if you're trying to mess with the other teams head (Oh god its Bailey. Oh, nevermind, it's Springer, wait the fuck, Bailey's back up?) If you bring in a guy, who has given up 3 straight hits to the fence, I would assume most managers would consider bringing in another guy. Nope, Bob-o, you in your infinite wisdom decide to leave Springer in there and let him give up 4! runs. What is wrong with you?
(Sidenote) How the fuck did we only score 1 run off Buckner, but we hit 4 HR's off Danny Haren? What the hell is going wrong? Maybe if we face aces all the times we'll win more often. (OH WAIT WE LOST THAT GAME)

Bob, what I'm trying to get at is, you suck. I can't believe I'm saying this, but you're worse than Ken Fucking Macha. How is that possible? Your team is 3-10 in one run games. That says an awful lot about the performance of the team, and of yourself. While I would hope that you'd get fired somewhere around the All Star break, there's a fat chance of that happening. So in the meantime, I will blog about how you are simply bad.

Let's begin the race for the #1 pick in the 2010 Amateur Draft, it'll give us something to cheer about while Bob-o is still in charge. The failboat is setting sail for fail.

FIRE GEREN NOW
